A Poem of a Pirate

Nelli Verkhovska in a long floral dress with purple prints posing against a sunset sky and green trees.

What tale will you whisper, my pirate? What sighs will escape in the dark?

Let me be the princess you worship, the heaven that catches your spark.

We'll flee through the gardens of moonlight, and fall in Columbus's snare,

We'll pay him with other men's ransom, and keep just the shadows we share.

We'll hide in the velvet of darkness, entwined in a sensual knot,

Where bitterness, quarrels, and sorrow, and everyday noise are forgot.

Just two of us, free of the burdens, adrift on celestial streams,

Our path, and the wind, and the planets. The stars, and of course, our wild dreams.
